atlases- the best thing you can do is to let them know that.
i applied to other schools as well and right now my backup seems to be goucher, and i dont think i would be unhappy at goucher, i just know i am better suited to bard, and if i end up in your situation i am going to voice that further.

email them, write them a letter, or call them. remind them that bard is where you want to be, so you may take precedence over those who bard suspects just applied as a backup.

hey, dude.

so, i emailed greg after receiving the letter and such asking him if they would only start reviewing after june 1st, and he said that they also review before june 1st, because as may contiues, more and more first years will abandon their acceptance as they themselves are removed off waitlists. unfortunately, he also said theyve granted acceptances to people as late as early july. however, toward the middle of july they notify people that they wont be accepting any more students and that the waitlist has dissolved.

furthermore, i asked him where i was on the waitlist, because my mother got me anxious about my chances, and he said that they do not rank their waitlist. its all about finding people that are good fits for bard.

did that help?

SO basically there is no way we could do other than waiting...Do we need to send our 2nd semester transcripts to them? what if I didnt do it quite well as of last semester?

i didnt ask about that, but im assuming they take it into account. i asked for my second semester transcripts to be sent in. im sure the grade thing would only effect you negatively if your grades had dropped severely, otherwise, a few points difference in GPA is probably not that big of a deal.

Will the yield rate of freshman and admitted transfers affect their decision on us waitlist?

I mean, yeah. The number of spots available for people on the waitlist are dictated by the amount of freshman/transfers that actually decide to attend bard.

W/L - What To Do

Some schools use the W/L not only as a nice way of saying no, and not only as a repository of standbys, to be dipped into if too few accepted applicants decide to attend.

Rather, they use it as burden-shifting device. What I've heard is waitlist placement sometimes means that the school believes the student is qualified, and assumes that if the student also is motivated--is serious about attending if the chance is offered--that a call or a letter or some other action will be taken by that student to make their feelings clear.

So, if you're a student who absolutely and sincerely would attend if only the school would say OK, call or write and say that to them in plain English. And tell them what you have to offer.

The last thing that should be done is simply make inquiry as to your status, or worse yet, just wait and hope they change their minds.

i was with a friend last night who is going to be a junior at bard and when i told him i had been waitlisted he said that bard loves waitlisting people. i didnt ask him to elaborate because i wasnt really in the mood to talk about it, but im going to assume he knows people who had been waitlisted before freshman year who got in. although for transfers it could be a totally different scene.

he didnt seem that surprised by my news though.
