Hi RochesterMom,
Current Batesie athlete here. Yes, all teams that practice/compete on campus have locker rooms assigned to them for the duration of their season. It's a pretty nice deal. In terms of getting duplicates of everything, I don't feel that it's necessary, at least for me. I find that during my season, I pretty much always shower in the locker room, since I'm there so much, so I just bring my shower stuff over there for the length of the season. Alternatively, if your daughter will be traveling often for competitions, she could bring travel-size toiletries to keep in the locker room and throw in her sports bags when the team is on the move.
Washing of uniforms and practice gear is provided pretty much daily in Merrill Gym. Every locker gets a mesh laundry bag. The bags are returned to the locker the next day. Technically I think you're only supposed to put in team-issued articles (socks, practice jerseys, etc.) but people throw in tee shirts, sports bras, etc. anyway, though they may get lost/discolored, so don't put anything precious in there. Every locker is also provided with a (small) towel that gets washed.
The temperature really depends on where the room is, as well as the craziness that is New England weather. Some rooms have in-room thermometers/heat control. Rooms next to heavily trafficked dorm entrances are bound to get drafty in the winter. Once Bates turns the boiler on, I find buildings to be more on the warmer side. All in all, being flexible is key, but I don't think you need any special astronaut blankets or anything to do so.
Hope that was helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions I might be able to help you with!
