Is Baylor overbearing religiously?

I know you're required to take religious classes and attend chapel, but is the university religiously overbearing?

I would say no, but it definitely depends on your definition of "overbearing". It is very much a Christian school, though not as strict as some Christian schools out there. Are you a Christian yourself?

Also, take a look at this thread.

When I was at Baylor, I had Jewish friends, Christian friends, and non religious friends Unless you're looking for a religious debate, there wasn't much discussion about it from students or the university but yes, it is a Christian university. The board of regents separated itself from the Southern Baptist Convention (thank goodness) so that it would not become a strictly religious school and is associated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, a much more liberal and open minded body. If you want to be part of a party or fraternity scene it certainly is there. If you don't then you'll find numerous ways to get involved. Yes, I took two religious classes but I found them interesting especially for the historical standpoint. At Chapel, we would have diverse speakers like William F. Buckley, Bill Cosby, etc. I think the difference at Baylor is that you find students to be very friendly and supportive, and enjoy being in college. The professors are amazing and are so easily accessible. Check out the new Brooks College at Baylor. Good luck.
