GPA and ranking question

My daughter is applying to Baylor before November 1. Her freshman year she had some issues at school, and her grades are not what they should be. Mid year of her sophomore year she transferred schools. Her new school did not recognized the weighted classes, so it hurt her GPA and class rank even more. She has made nearly straight A's since, but only ranks 8th out of 37 in her class.

Does anyone know if Baylor will take into consideration her upward trend and the size of her class in determining whether they will accept her?

Hello smalltownmom!

I think your daughter will be fine. Her current GPA is great and it is right in the range for Baylor. They will take into consideration of how her issues have affected her GPA, it's all in the matter of letting them know it. She can probably get a recommendation from her teachers showing her upward trend and then have her guidance counselor explain her grades from earlier years. However, if she's done well over her junior and senior years, I don't think there will be any major problem.
