yea i did..but it's low..and i don wanna delve into how low it is...the form came wit the acceptance form though..

i did. but i applied early. i have basically a full ride, but if all goes well, i'll be at NYU.

We have heard back about some scholarship money but no news on financial aid yet.

If you are unhappy with your financial aid package, and think there are additional financial circumstances that need to be factored in, call the Beloit FA people. They are very happy to listen, and can be flexible with adjustments if there are specific circumstances that warrant it.

How would applying for EA affect my chances of financial aid? I'm thinking about applying for EA for Beloit.

Would I get less? Eliminate my chances of receiving FA from the school? I hear applying for early decision (maybe EA?) would mean I might get lower financial aid?

jyi90 - applying EA should have no bearing on your finaid package. Get your application in early so you can qualify for some of the nice scholarships that Beloit offers.

Actually, the only way you can qualify merit scholarships at Beloit is to apply EA. So it is in your best interests to apply EA. Beloit actually has two EA deadlines, one in November and one in December. Both are acceptable for being invited to the merit scholarship weekends (if you meet the cutoffs for the scholarships of course).

EA for scholarship consideration??? That's odd. I don't see anything in their scholarship writeups regarding that. I sent email to admissions to confirm this. Their scholarships are pretty weak...top out at 14k.

Jan 15 is the deadline, atleast for the President's:

Presidential Scholarship
Beloit's most prestigious academic award can be worth $44,000, $50,000 or $56,000 ($11,000, $12,500 or $14,000 per year, renewable for four years).

The Presidential Scholarship rewards first-year students who not only have outstanding academic credentials but who also will contribute to the Beloit College community through leadership and campus involvement. Therefore, an interview with members of the Beloit campus community during the weekends of February 2-3 or February 16-17, 2007 is required.

To compete, students must have a completed application for admission on file by January 15 to interview during either of the two February weekends.

To be eligible to interview for the Presidential Scholarship, students must meet the following academic criterion:

* a 3.5 unweighted GPA (on a 4.0 scale) OR rank in the top 10% of the class
* a composite ACT score of at least 27 OR a combined SAT I score of 1220 (critical reading/verbal & math sections).

A student must maintain a 3.0 GPA to renew the award.

Here's the repsonse I got concerning the above:

Dear (me),

College confidential is mistaken (it is, however a good resource for a lot
of things). You do not have to apply EA to be considered for academic merit
scholarship. Applying EA does, however, sometimes help us get better
information to students about scholarship opportunities -- we mail out
scholarship brochures in November and December, which unfortunately excludes the people who haven't applied yet or aren't on our mailing list. You can find information about scholarships online at:
