such a simple start of many like minded questions..
it is of the sizing of the walls that soundly support the dorms structure.
does sound travel about and through them with simple ease?

so pretty much im trying to say if i were to play a guitar at a semi loud tone will i be disturbing my neighbors.

simple question and it might seem in fact too simple but trust me simple things add up with astounding results.

I passed your question along (although not quite so poetically) to my daughter at Beloit. She said that your dorm neighbors definitely would be able to hear your guitar—she can hear the student next door playing the violin—but that you probably wouldn’t disturb people unless you were playing in the middle of the night or ‘round the clock. During the day, the dorm rooms are mostly empty while the kids are at class and/or campus jobs, and in the evenings, many students study in the library or in secluded rooms away from activity areas.

You might want to check on practice room availability, in the chapel basement. My D keeps her viola there, and is not too far from most dorms. Joys of a small campus!

My daughter plays guitar in her room at Beloit. She's careful not to play late into the night, and she's considerate of others. She hasn't had any complaints. Some of the dorms, however, are more sound-proof than others.
