I'm stressing out here! can someone please tell me what my chances of getting in are?
I'm currently taking the IB Diploma Program, which is like AP in the United States, except all my classes are IB classes. I've taken Yale and New York University summer classes and am very business oriented. MY extra curricular activities include: VIce president of Operation Smile (community service club), Community Service Club, Ecology Club, and the founder of the Economics Club. I'm also a 3.7 GPA student.
bkb, You left out your sat scores, but I found them on another one of your posts. I don't know the breakdown of your score, but I think this is a match school for you. Just make sure you apply to some safety schools.
Your SAT and gpa will not exclude you from consideration. They are respectable numbers. But what you need to do is position yourself as a unique candidate by talking about your experiences and levels of responsibility -- in your essays and interviews. The key is differentiation. Show them, in interesting ways, how you bring a unique perspective to the total environment. the effectiveness of your communication will show them that you will be able to communicate and influence people after graduation - and thereby have a great chance of succeeding in the work force... The key is differentiation. This is the type of thinking you will acquire at Bentley. Good Luck.
I didn't take any classes in the trading room, but I received positive feedback from classmates who did take classes there. I've been in there and it's really about being in the proper atmosphere. But you have access to technology throughout the campus so the trading room was never a big deal for me... In terms of getting a job. I wouldn't say that career services necessarily helped me, but Bentley sure did! It was an interesting road, given that I graduated during low economic conditions. But 3 years after graduation, I'm working as a Senior Marketing Consultant leading project teams and providing strategic solutions to c-level executives in various industries. I was told by the company CFO that Bentley was one of the reasons that they sought me out.
Thanks. By the way, anyone looking into Bentley should also check out Babson. They are similar in many ways and both continue to sky-rocket in the rankings. Bentley probably does a better job of helping you leverage technology and operational excellence into business solutions whereas Babson is as good as it gets if you are looking for an entrepeneurial way of attacking business issues... And as a final note one Bentley, you will absolutely develop immensely more effective communication and influential skills here than you would at even a Harvard (and Harvard obviously has its advantages). But this is a key component in business success or MBA applications.
