Pre Business major

I applied for pre business and i'm confused about the major at Berkeley. I read somewhere on the site that freshmen enter as pre business and apply to Haas as a junior, but what happens to the students who take business related classes up to their junior year and not get in?

Then they find another major to graduate with.

Rather harsh, but it's what allows Haas to compete with the other top business schools (getting to rank #3) despite Berkeley's disadvantages compared to many of them.

Usually, Haas applicants have economics as a back-up major (part of why it is capped).

Pre-business on the application, as far as I can tell, does nothing except for put you into Letters and Sciences.
