Deferred- need advice

Hello. I have dreamed of going to Cal for a while and found out that I was deferred until the Spring semester of 2008. Now I am reconsidering my college choices and would like feedbak on the following ques:

-How good is the Freshman Extension Program for Fall? I've heard mixed reviews, from "youg et slightly higher GPA's b/c the classes are easier" to "it puts students at a disadvantage becuase you are behind, don't get guaranteed housing, have to take off campus classes, out of the social scene...ect" I just want someone who's been in the program, or a currrent cal student to tell me about it.

I applied for Molecular and Cell biology department/major. Is it impacted? could my deferral be due to that? (I am just curious about the admissions process. I know that I did have some weaknesses in my application)
- Is it "worth it" to go to Cal next spring and do something else (apply for FPF/community college) in the fall? I got into UCLA, Davis, and San Diego as well. Some of them gave me partial scholarships as opposed to Cal not giving me any.

- Is the biology major better at Cal, UCLA, Davis or Irvine?

This is exactly what I wanted to know as well. Since there's no labs for the FRF, we would have to wait till Spring semester to take Chem 1A.

My girlfriend seriously considered UC Davis - supposedly very strong Biology dept.

Of course, she was applying to Grad schools. She graduated from Berkeley and now is in Grad school at Emory.

i was in your same situation tofulover, and now i regret coming to berkeley, go to davis, berkeley is an overly-competitve rigid environment for the most part, sure people are nice and you will make friends easily, but everyone here is after the "A", ull spend most of ur time studying here, especially if ur pre-med, go to davis, get a good gpa, and enjoy college life, good luck
