I think Berkeley would be awesome for your interests as long as you like the atmosphere.

I was accepted to the college of engineering. since that's supposed to be the hardest to get into, I'm not too worried, because switching out of a harder college into an easier one will be easier. And yes, I love the atmosphere. I'm a very liberal person who is very politically active...so I'll fit right in...but I also really like the city itself (I'm more of a big city person). I've heard about the other big stereotype at berkeley, the academic competition, but to be honest I'm not too worried about that either. I can handle competition, and I don't think that would affect my experience in any big negative way.

Berkeley is much more prestigious internationally. I can think of lots of famous Berkeley people, not many (well, make it any) from Cornell.

However the quality of the students is probably higher at Cornell since you need higher SATS scores to have a good chance of getting in.
