You shouldn't go to Berkeley if you don't have the motivation to succeed. ;\

Everyone feels like they're the bottom, until they actually study and work hard.

i never said i don't have motivation...
i just feel like i'll be at the bottom, & all my hard work won't always pay off.
but i'm ready to fail, dust it off, & keep going.

College confidential posts can be scary and discouraging but you have to talk to real people to get a feel for things. I talked to some current students during one of the ASA picnics and there are people who are double majoring in Hass and MCB and they seem normal.

Do they actually tell you your exact position in a class?

I guess I'll have to get used to the competition. Is Berkeley really that cut throat?

From what I understand (yet it might be an exception at Cal), students really don't go around comparing scores like you would do in Highschool, since college may be the last stop on the train of education; so you don't have to worry too much about getting good grades to get accepted into another institution. But that philosophy seems contradictory to someone who is planing to go to grad school.

yea! i was thinking about the grad school thing throughout reading your entire post, then i read the end. haha. but yea youre right. cuz jobs don't really care about your rank or where you graduated in your class.. just graduating from cal is amazing.... but yea, then theres the whole grad school thing..
