Is it possible to take Eng 45A before completing the RcB requirement?

As an English major.

I'm not sure if I passed the second part of the R&C requirement yet (AP scores haven't come out). Can I take this as a sophomore, or would it be difficult for me to take Eng45A without completing this requirement? I'm thinking in terms of the difficulty of Eng45A.

Also, how's this for my schedule:
Eng 45A (I guess this is replaceable with Eng RcB)
Math1a
italian 1a
physics c10
English seminar 24

Please and thank you!

R1A/R1B classes are pretty much IN NO WAY related to English 45 series. Go ahead, take English 45A this coming fall. Besides, I don't even know how many R1B classes Berkeley offers in the fall, if any.

I took English 45A this past fall and then English R50 (R1B) in the spring, so I do know what I'm talking about haha. I guess theoretically taking an R1B first might help you in terms of getting used to writing college papers, honing/improving your analytical skills, and/or reading and writing a lot...but...yeah, whatever.

And just remember, your R1B does not have to be in the English department, but if you are interested in pursuing an English major, they suggest taking English R50 (it's R1B class for those planning to be English majors). I don't know how that class compared to other R1Bs, but basically it was like high school English all over again.
