Fulfilling R&C requirement

I know what courses I need to take to fulfill both halves of it (in one right now), but does it have to be a letter grade, or can I take it pass/no pass and still fulfill the requirement? The site said C- and above, so does this apply to p/np?

To pass a P/NP course, you must get the equivalent of a C-.

However, a letter grade course, you just can't get an F, although you can retake a course that you get a D+ or below (usually).
