Emerging Leader Program

I was just wondering if anyone who was part of the Emerging Leader Program or if anyone who knows about it can tell me a little more about it. The brochure says that the group meets for 2 hours every Tuesday, and there are a lot of extra opportunities and stuff. Is the program a good experience? What activities do you do in particular?

I don't know much about ELP, but my friend was in it this past year. The activities usually involve some sort of community service around Boston during weekends. My friend in particular helped repaint a school on one weekend and has participated in many different events. However, he does complain about having to wake up early (around 8:00 am) on weekends to do community service.

So you chose BC...congrats, I'm sure you'll love it! As for your question, my friend's friend was in it and thought that it was fun and rewarding at times but was not worthwhile in the long run partially because of its sometimes annoying and demanding schedule (aka early morning starts, etc)

Hey thanks miragemage and nesh! Nesh, do you happen to know approximately how often those early morning starts were? like every weekend? or once a month or so?

I was in ELP and the early mornings were nowhere near as bad as described. There were maybe 3 or 4 early mornings over the course of the whole year. I thought overall ELP was a very good experience and helpful to meet a ton of people before moving in.

I believe that is is usually around 200 people that apply, so 25% acceptance.
