My DD sent in her early action application to BC about a week ago and is now reconsidering this decision. Does anyone know if an early action application can be switched over to RD. Reason is, is that she is now rethinking about ED at another school. Cautioned her to wait a bit longer before submitting, but ... stubborn teenagers! She's been back and forth over these two schools all summer. I just wish they both had EA, but that's not the case. Thanks in advance for input.

How is this a problem? Early Action is non-binding. She can apply early decision, which is legally binding, to the other school and then simply refuse the BC offer, if it comes in and she is accepted ED at the other school. The worst thing that can happen is she gets accepted at both places and then has another change of heart and decides she wants to attend BC. Legally you and she will be out of luck, but those are the breaks of ED.

if she applies ED to the other school im pretty sure BC rescinds the EA application. Their admissions office/counselors said to apply EA you cant apply ED

vinceh, The EA program at BC is restrictive so there is indeed a problem for the OP's daughter. As clearly stated on the BC website, you cannot apply EA to BC and also ED to another school:

If she does apply to another school ED, then she does have to let BC know that she wants to change her application to the RD round.

To change from EA to RD is as easy as a phone call. Have your daughter have her social security and give BC admissions a call and make a request. If not, then just apply ED and ignore the EA restriction. BC has 28k-30k applications each year, it really doesn't have the time or resources to check up on its EA applicants. It's sort of an honor code that you won't apply ED elsewhere if you doing EA at BC.
