I'd give you a 50/50 shot for BC. Depends on the "intangibles" as well.

The numbers are on the weaker side, but they are still solid.

Thank you for the reply. I have heard from some sources that BC is more selective during Early Action than during Regular decision. I was wondering what your opinion on the matter was?

Dear zxcvbnm99 : Short answers first : you are extremely likely to be accepted by Holy Cross and you are probably no better than a one-in-four chance of being accepted by Boston College. Why?

First, the College of the Holy Cross is on average 100 points softer than Boston College on the two way SAT scores (50 points per section). Your SAT is well above the midpoints at Holy Cross yet below te midpoint for Boston College. Second, on the ACT side of things, we have seen many 29 ACT scores rejected at BC, so be aware that 30+ is where we have seen better successes.

A top 50% ranking for your average is not a number that BC is seeking. Two years back, 80% of students were Top 10%, 96% were Top 25%, and the remaining 4% were below the top quartile in their High School ranking. So based on the pure numbers here, you would have one chance in twenty-five based on your class placement. Harsh numbers, but those are the numerical facts.

Something else really special needs to appear on one's profile to overcome those types of numbers. Your current profile does not show that incredible element of passion that differentiates you. That does not imply that there is not something to set your application aside in BC, but we do not see it as yet. Could it be in your theatre arts, something with your ice hockey team, or your AP course work? Do you have any specific leadership positions to list? Any innovations that you have brought to your High School as an agent for change?

I'll have to agree with Scottj. Your application doesn't quite stand out, and your numbers are average. You better write one hell of an essay.
