I was just wondering how big of a role legacy plays in the BC admissions process. My mother along with numerous aunts and uncles graduated from BC twenty-some years ago. Will this give me a much larger chance to get in? What about if I have an interest in a school different from the ones that they attended. Will legacy still help me?
Legacy will NOT give you a "much larger" chance to get into BC. However, if your stats are at least solidly competitive (i.e., in the mid-range of applicants' stats), then the legacy connection might be enough to tip the scales in your favor. In other words, it might give you a slight boost.
Unfortunately, BC's supplement does not include a section for you to list members of your family that attended BC. The common application will only show them that your mother went there.
