Chance and BU vs. NEU

Looking to major in Engineering

White Female
ACT Composite of 32
Top 5%
Weighted GPA 4.2 (unweighted not on my transcript and haven't calculated yet)
9 AP classes
Honors English/Math/Science all four years
5 years of Spanish and 3 of French
Varsity Athlete with varied EC's

Trying to decide between BU and NEU. Won't qualify for much if any need aid because my parents both have decent jobs. Wondering who has stronger program in engineering (love the coop idea of NEU, but think BU at least currently has better name recognition). Also wonder who has stronger merit aid programs since that might be deciding factor.

Thanks!

Which branch of engineering?

BU does not offer Civil or Chemical. Northeastern does not offer Biomedical.

Disclaimer: I applied and was accepted to both Northeastern and BU (which I eventually chose).

In terms of raw rankings, Northeastern has a more established engineering department. That, plus the coops practically guarantees a job for you by the time you graduate. That being said, BU has some incredible engineering resources that Northeastern (or even MIT!) doesn't have, such as a open-access machine and prototyping shop (Boston University College of Engineering Singh Imagineering Laboratory) and free tutoring for most (if not all) engineering classes. As for scholarships, I think Northeastern has a slight advantage for merit scholarships, whereas BU is more likely to give financial aid.

I'm not fully sure if I've made myself clear, so feel free to ask if you have questions, and good luck with the apps!

Thinking Biomechanical, might have to be mechanical with an emphasis since not many have biomechanical.

Thanks guys!
