BU or BC...........?

Info on me:
Male, Northeast Ohio, poor (Fafsa EFC was 0 dollars)
white, liberal, atheist, future in business, like being around smart ppl, very mature.......umm thats bout it.......if anyone has any feedback on why I should go to BU or Bc..... feel free to reply...thanks

Liberal and atheist -- more BU than BC
Two entirely different schools and campuses. BU is smack in Boston, with several T stops along the campus. BC has a more traditional campus in a suburban area. BC has a reputation for attracting upper middle class white kids from the Northeast. You'll find that type at BU as well, but with 16,000 undergrads you'll find more diversity than at BC. As to BU's management school, check the forum for posts by ryanbis, who is a graduating senior.

BC accepts fewer applicants...so it's more "selective"
But as for academics, BU is much MUCH better. Especially for business. The programs here in COM, ENG, and SMG are really professional and you get so much real world experience. Classes are tough and it's tough to see low grades all the time, but I've learned more in a semester at BU than I have in all of high school. Every class is really enlightening and it makes learning really enjoyable. I don't know about management school rankings, but BU's is really competitive and SMG kids do so much more than read books and write papers. Going to those classes are described like going to work. They dress up in business suits and make presentations and all that jazz. It looks really intense but I've only heard good things.

I think you'll find smart and mature people anywhere if you look hard enough. BU is VERY white, liberal and atheist (for good and bad). There are like 3 black people in the whole school. Everyone is open minded and embraces diversity so idk what's up with that. SO many people here are atheist/agnostic. I've met like 2 religous people since I've been here. But I'm sure you could find them if you wanted.

Sooo yeah there's always fierce debate in these posts but the only thing that BC really has is the prestige and pretty campus. And when you're trying to learn and get a job, that really doesn't mean much. There are amazing opportunities here for research and we have like every major in existence. BU is also more like...real world in the sense that we don't have to complete 20 religion/philosophy/BS classes before we can actually learn about our major and what we're going to do with our lives. But we do have space to take cool classes that we want and become well rounded people.

BC is VERY, VERY Catholic and much like High School for many of the students. Admit rates are lower for BC because its one of the better Catholic schools so kids that attend Catholic HS want to go there if they can't get into Georgetown or ND. Both excellent schools but with over 80 "retired" priests living on BC's campus its a very different environmnet. Both excellent schools so you can't go wrong with either one.
BU more sophisticated, international, urban environment. A lot more to discover off campus and nice river views.

thanks "dogs".....yeah im trying to stay away from too much of a catholic school, lol especially since im a midwestern far left atheist, im a bit out of the norm compared to many who live out here in Ohio...

anyone have anything else?

There is a chapel in the center of BU's campus and kids from many different religions practice while there, Christian, 10% international kids representing many backgrounds, a new and beautiful Hillel House for kids active in Jewish life-- but if you are an atheist or non-practicing type you'll fit right in whereas I'm told if you sleep in on Sun. morning at certain religious affiliated schools you are doing a "no-no". Many kids that attend Catholic HS want to go to BU over BC because they are ready for a different type of experience while others want to stay in their comfort zone. BC is a great school and having a football team is a plus for school pride but everybody there seemed to look the same. BU isn't as diverse as some other urban schools, Boston has fewer people of color than most large cities. There are plenty of clones, basically middle class white kids, high achievers, smart, but not nerdy or perhaps as driven as Ivy kids--- but also many different "types"---with such a large student body like minded souls, goth or jock, can find one another.
