Switching from CAS to COM

...can it be done? (preferably by fall, though later on as well) If so, how??? Is it really difficult? Would you have to write an additional essay?

(I was still undecided when I applied to BU back in the beginning of the year, but now I realize that COM is really the school for me.)

I think once your accepted you have to transfer to com as it has a limited amount of space and people apply to the college they choose. however, I'm sure you can and ask admissions about transferring into com.
