roommate?

so when i saw that BU had absolutely nothing in it's housing survey about kind of roommate (i.e sleep patterns, cleaning patterns) i got really freaked out. and now i'm really scared i'm going to end up with someone who i absolutely hate. AHHH. is anyone as scared as me, or am i just worrying for no reason?

Well, considering the size of BU, personality matching or anything like that is nearly impossible. But Im definitely worried too :P

I don't think we need to be worried or anything..I mean what's the worst that could happen? We could get paired up with someone who listens to 50 Cent....but I hear we can change/swap roommates and stuff....so I'm not all that worried.....but I can't say that I wasn't dissapointed when I saw that the survey had no roommate questions....

It is pretty easy to swap rooms, especially at the beginning of the year. I know some people who didn't get along with their roommates and all of them switched to live somewhere else. Plus, you never know; you might get lucky. I absolutely love my roommate this year, and we just got paired together by chance. She is definitely one of my best friends at school. The best advice I can give you is to talk over the summer once you get your assignment. By the time I got to school, I already felt like I knew my roommate. Then, find at least one thing you can bond over. My roommate and I always watched the Daily Show together at the beginning of the year, and it gave us something to talk about. Good luck

yeah....haha i listen to 50 cent........but anyhow, it wont b too bad....if theres too much confliction then it could hurt...but theres soo many ppl at BU that there wont b a prob

oh yeah about the "too many ppl to match up"...yeah that would make sense...but at Ohio State, which is even bigger than BU...they have surveys which match ppl up..so i dunno

A lot of schools are moving away from those 3-4 so-called matching questions since teens chnage a lot over time. The amount of time you spend in your room other than for sleeping isn't that high since you can hang out or study in othe parts of the dorm or campus. Lots of kids do th swap though so its a fall back. Not everyone becomes friends with their room mates but most people get along well enough to get through the 8 months.

College is a learning experience. Part of that is learning to deal with different people. Adapt. You'll live.

the people at BU said they didn't do roommate matching because surveys and studies have shown it doesn't really help because people tend to change during college etc.
