Does anyone know what it takes to get invited into the honors program at Boston University? I read about some of the courses it offers on their website and it's one of the things that attracted me to BU. I was just wondering if any of you are in it, and what kind of application you all had to get invited.

There's no application. You are invited based on your academic statistics. It's not really a formal Honors College similar to those at public universities like Arizona State and Penn State. If you earn at least a B in four Honors courses, I believe your diploma has an Honors designation.

I believe that's for CAS. COM doesn't have honors sections for classes.

Yeah, I know you can't apply for it, but what kind of test scores/transcript will get someone invited, do you think?

Its not just CAS though. Check the BU web site since there are other Honors Programs. You usually finish the Honors requirements by the end of Soph. year and there is a ceremony and all that. It may not be on the actual diploma but you can put it on your resume.

It is correct that you will get an invitation to the Honors Program based on your stats so you don't need to go through any additional hoops. If for some reason you don't get in but you think your stats suggest that you should by all means email them since its a very large school and things can fall through the cracks. There is alslo a way to get into the Honors Program after you are already a student.

I'd say 1350 plus and a decent class rank, but if your class rank is higher, than you'll get it anyway.

1350 is like, the 65th percentile... i bet it has to be higher than that

I think the honors kids are the top 10% of admitted freshman.

Yes its supposed to be the top 10% so one would think its a good bit higher than the SAT no. speculated on in an earlier post. Perhaps you can email the Honors Program and ask them. I'm sure it changes each year. Here is the current class profile, not just accepted kids but those that actually are enrolled and attending BU. So you can see what the top 25% of BU's 4 yrs colleges (top quarter is over 1400 on 1600 scale)and CGS are currently. Keeping in mind that some 4 yr colleges are have higher standards than others. Now, is this honors program at BU same as the Scholars Program?
My S just got accepted as a University Scholar with 50% tuition paid for 4 yrs if he maintains his GPA.
