honors program

I was wondering if anyone knew the average stats for applicants invited to be in the honors program. It is based upon only GPA and SATs or the whole app?

No. I haven't heard from BU yet. I'm just curious.

I do not know the requirements, either. What I do know, though, is that the top 5% of the class is invited. In discussions, I've heard SAT scores in the 1500s bandied about. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

Oh, it's fine. Do you mean the top 5% of the BU freshmen class?

honors

Our son got in last year with a 1420, a high GPA and in top 5% (barely)of his HS class. Search around the web site for stats.

It’s the top 10% of the incoming freshman class. S was accepted ED with half-tuition scholarship but has not heard abut Honors College yet. BU said those decisions would be sent in March along with RD acceptances.
Course descriptions of fall Honors College classes have been posted. I'm sure more will be added to the list.

Well, my source wasn't entirely wrong. The top 5% is invited to the honors program. . .along with the remainder of the top 10%.

I will not hold my breath for the honors program, but the post dogs made is encouraging. I need something to be worked up about while RD applicants stress over acceptances. I don't actually think I will make the grade.

honors

Regarding holding your breath...if you don't get into Honors an incoming Freshman I think you still have a shot after your first college year if your GPA is high. Check the web site but thats what I heard.
Also, if your stats are high and the Honors Program is a deal breaker for you to choose BU then don't be afraid to call and say that ---if you don't get an acceptance letter. Also, in any large schools the letters can go out randomly for acceptances, merit aid, Honors so again --call if you don't hear in your initial acceptance letter.

I applied ED, so the honors program won't affect my college decision. But you are right, I believe the GPA threshold is a 3.5 at the end of Freshman year.

The problem I have is that my school does not calculate GPA or rank. I would probably be in the top 10% of the school. Most colleges do consider the difficulty that my school entails but I worry that they wouldn't consider that in honors after initial acceptance.

i think the % in class is based on the incoming freshman class' stats, not your own personal ones coming out of high school

honors

College GPA to maintain Honors Degree status is 3.3 ....university scholarship is 3.2.

If you miss it for a semester then get 3.2 again next semester you get it reinstated.
