whats it like?

so i am going to go visit this summer but i was wondering from any students or alumni what is the experience at BU like?

i am a nerd and do study but i also like to go and have fun. not much of a partier in the sense of drinking but i am one for the city and like to get outdoors.

another big thing is that i dont want TAs teaching my classes. unless they are really up for it. i like teachers that can be reached.

i am very social and am not shy when it comes to asking questions when i don't understand.

is BU a fit?

As far as the TAs go, they don't teach actual classes, only sections. BU has a rule that for every class above around 75 or something, there must be a smaller discussion component of around 15 students. The professor teaches the lectures, and the TA teaches the discussion. Don't worry, they're usually very nice and approachable and appear to enjoy their job. I really don't know why they get such a bad rap. Professors are also required to have a certain number of office hours every week, so they have to be available at least some during the week. Most of my professors have also been very good with email.
