Does Admissions give preference to athletes?

I am a junior and right now Bowdoin is my top choice, will they ease their standards a lot for applicants who want to play a varsity sport (i play lacrosse). I am a good student, so I have a chance anyways but i was just wondering if lacrosse helps.

If you are good enough to play varsity lacrosse, it will make a difference, depending on just how good you are. Each coach is allocated a certain number of "tips" that are used to boost an applicant through the admissions process. You should begin the process by talking to the coach to determine whether he or she is interested you as a potential member of the lacrosse team.
