u bears?

anyone know what that means?? i keep hearing bowdoin people say "go u bears!" but i don't get it....haha

right, but why "go U bears" vs. "go bears?"

does the 'U' stand for something, or just short for "you?"

haha i probably appear to have a negative IQ right now.

It probably is YOU bears and not U bears.

It's probably like "you guys," but "you bears."

U bears is in reference to polar bears' scientific name, Ursus maritimus. I don't know why that's the cheer, but there you have it.
