Hey!

I read your post in Amherst's forum too. I also applied to both schools, so I will try to tell you what I have learned. Since they are Liberal Arts, they tend to place more emphasis on the individual rather than just test scores. Saying that, test scores are still important. However, you shouldn't be dissuaded just because your scores aren't the best (they are within the range for the schools); my scores weren't amazing, yet I was still accepted. Just be sure to let the schools know you as an individual and emphasize your passions. Highlight what you have the capacity to bring to their school and community. Your hard work and dedication should come through in your app and essays. You have worked hard; most of the rest is up to the colleges. Just continue working hard your senior year. If you're worried about your English, you can always get a teacher or friend to read over your essays. Anyone has a chance at getting into these schools. Good luck!
