Do you have time to retake both SATs and SAT2s? I assume that means you'll be taking something in November, which sucks.

I don't really know how to read your chances (does anyone, really?). You have really good grades and a strong course load (which are the most important things), but I just don't see passion (but what do i know?).

I guess your probably pretty into the language thing, which would be really good if you frame yourself as a language or classics major, but hmm. What have you done outside of school? Can you elaborate on the community service hours? With that, it really matters what you did, not so much for how many hours you did it. You should consider entering some contests the first half of next year-- I'm sure they have some short of french or latin oriented dealy.

Make sure you sound like a deep, thoughtful person in your essay and you might get in.

Yeah I'm going to have to do the October and November SAT dates =/. And I can see what you mean about the passion thing. I'm hoping to present myself as someone with a great deal of interest in writing (I think it is one of my strengths and I'm hoping to show it in my essay) and languages/global studies. However, I really have no idea what I want to major in in college. My community service is from my internship (no pay) and marching band, but I'm most likely going to add more hours in different activities the rest of the summer. As for contests, I've won chapter awards for the National French Contest three times (I can never quite get a National award), but I will take your advice and look for more opportunities. Thank you for the advice!

I agree with Tzar09; most Bowdoin students not only have strong academic qualities but a passion that sets them apart from the rest of the applicants. Just make sure you don't present yourself as just a strong student; that much will be evident in your app.

Honestly, I think you have a pretty good chance, even with those SAT scores and extracurriculars. My SAT scores were better, but your ECs are more extensive than mine. I got in, so I figure you have as good of a chance as anyone! Just work hard on your essays.
