weekend activities

Now that D2 is on the college hunt, she is very interested in Bowdoin. She would like a small LAC that fills her needs to have outdoor and athletic activities which Bowdoin has. But she is concerned about the nightlife. She is thankfully not into the party/drinking culture in our community. She would like to know if Bowdoin offers weekend activities that are college sponsered, e.g. concerts, comedians, pub/band nights, carnivals, etc. and sporting events. She is interested in the outdoor club and athletics so can keep her self busy with that but wants to know that in the dead of winter, that hanging out with her friends won't involve drinking.
Anything I can tell her?

Yes, the college does offer all those things that you mentioned (except for carnivals). The college regularly offers concerts and comedians and has something called "common hour" where some famous person comes to speak for an hour each Friday.

There are many 'chem-free' students on campus who don't drink, and the number of those students has been increasing for the last few years.
