Yeah, I like the supplemental essay. Personally, I think balance is a huge thing about Bowdoin's students. I am basically done, but I still have to polish my essays. Are you sending in your SAT ?

No, probably not. They aren't bad, its just that I don't like the concept of SATs (sorry if that's silly). Are you sending yours in?
I liked the essay as well. It was a lot easier to write than I initially expected. Well, I actually wrote it in a few ways because I kept thinking of all of the different ways that balance can be translated into experience but I like the one that I eventually chose.

Nope I am not sending my SAT in either. I just took it first time in Oct and it is not good at all. Honestly, I am not a good test taker.
Yeah, I was lucky because I have written one essay about balance before. Thus, I am gonna use that one. However, I have to cut down some words though. I am at 584 right now. Do you think I should cut down further ?
Have you had an interview ?

Yeah, don't worry about the SATs. I truly don't believe that they are a realistic indication of aptitude. But I love it when I've already written an essay about the subject!
Anyways, yeah, I had an off-campus at the end of September. It went well I thought. The guy was really nice, I thought it went well generally. Did you end up having an interview?
Btw, have you visited the campus? I'm going in a couple days. I'm really excited!! |

Yeah, I totally agree with you. Is it your common app's essay ?
I just got an off campus interview last Tuesday. My interviewer was nice too. We met at Starbuck and had a fun and relaxing conversation. I thought I did ok as it was my first college interview. I was not nervous but sometimes I just stop at the middle of a sentence to think about the word that I want to use.
I stayed overnight on the campus in April. It was really great. Don't forget to try the food. It's really good. I love the campus !!! It's beautiful. I bet at this time, with a lot of leaves you will it more beautiful.

No, my common app essay is a little out there. I decided to go for different, something that maybe not everyone can write about you know?
I'm glad that your interview went well, you sound confident which is always good
I'm really excited to visit, I'm leaving on Thursday to go see it. That deadline is getting close isn't it?
Do you know of anyone else who has decided to apply ED1?

That's good idea. I am still struggling with my essays.
Yeah, I felt Bowdoin is a great match for me since I love everything there. It may sound so cliche but I got the feeling that Bowdoin is my place as soon as I arrived on campus.
Yeah, the deadline is only 2 weeks left. I can't wait till the day I hit the submit button for Bowdoin.
Nah, I don't know anyone. Do you ?

Hmm maybe I'm interpreting the Bowdoin supp a little differently (or am I reading a totally wrong prompt) but I thought the prompt as about how well-equipped are you academically ('enter an academic environment') to thrive at Bowdoin? The balance part is mentioned but only in the general description of Bowdoin (which include many traits actually) but it is not mentioned in the question itself. And I interpret the 'activity lists' as those pertaining to academics e.g. Quiz Bowl or Olympiad Club as I believe they want you to demonstrate your intellectual curiosity I guess. I might be wrong though.
But anyways, what are your elaborations of 'balance' in your essays if you don't mind me asking? Obviously I won't (and can't) steal it.

I interpreted as that Bowdoin is not all about academic but also about balance. Thus, I wrote about my sense of balance. I wrote how my balance once came to my rescue when I was under really high pressure, which was to prepare to be the host of an event at school ( I was just notified 10 hours before the event).
