please be honest

I知 just a little apprehensive!
I just finished high school this year and am now goin to my dream school. But the thing is that I graduated a little late because I had to work. I am 23, so I知 about 4 or 5 years older than the average freshman at Brandeis. Other than that, I知 just like any other typical freshman. I really don稚 look all that old (though I am quite big), so I知 really not too keen on telling everyone that I am an old bird (and I guess that痴 understandable). I知 obviously a little nervous (since I don稚 want to stick out), but my question is - is it possible to actually not let anyone know that I am 23? Because I知 sure no one will know that fact just by looking at me. I知 also sure that I and other students will have to do stuff like fill forms and join clubs together while in college, so I知 scared they might come to know everything. So is it possible to hide that small detail about myself, to act and live like any average freshman and to not let anyone know that I知 actually a 23 year old?
I guess I知 just a little sacred, but hopefully I値l have the normal and enjoyable college experience that I致e always dreamed of.

I think for the most part it won't make much of a difference. It will probably depend on your personal experiences of course, but I think there can be many reasons why someone might be older, especially at Brandeis. Many students defer admission for at least a year to go to school in Israel and a few also go longer to do Israeli military service, I think. I am a year older than a lot of students in my year because I went to school abroad in a country with an extra year of secondary school and I know a few others like that, while there might also be other students in a similar situation to your's. Other students can sometimes be a few years younger because they skipped grades or were home schooled or because there are different cut-off dates in different high schools. I wouldn't try to hide it or call attention to it, just be yourself ;-)

Yes, I completely agree with the post above me. In fact, one of my over-night hosts was 22 and a freshman. She spent a great deal of time in Israel and fit right with the other freshmen. So do not worry...you will be fine
