Brandeis going test optional?

Am I reading this correctly? Or am I just tired this morning?

http://www.brandeis.edu/institutiona...S2008_2009.pdf

see p 9.....

Totally uninvolved with Brandeis but I happened to notice that their CDS was updated on another thread (thanks to papa chicken)...

I actually think it might be a mistake.....but who knows?

wow -- way to start a rumor!!!

what are you looking at? the fact that they leave blank the boxes for C8a? i have no inside info -- but i think they were probably more focused on noting the change in their sat2 policies. on page 8 (c7) they list standardized test scores as very important admissions criteria.

and this from their admissions website --

Quote:
If you are a U.S. citizen applying as a first-year student, the following are the required components of your Brandeis Application:

......

* Official copy of SAT I scores or the official ACT scores with writing in lieu of all SAT test scores

I see the notation that I think you were referring to on page 9, but I have a feeling it refers only to SAT subject tests. Obviously the SAT was still considered for the Class of 2013, the current freshman class, and is still mentioned on the admissions website now. But they do no longer mention SAT subject tests, so I think that might may be the change. Which come to think of it is was what the above poster is saying.

Just went to the info session at the open house yesterday, and they definitely said they were still requiring SATs, but they did say that subject tests were now optional, and that this was a fairly recent development about which there might still be some confusion.

Just to set the record straight, we require either the SAT I or the ACT (with Writing). SAT II subject tests are not required, but if you send them in, we'll look at them.
