does anyone know what the essay is? will it just be pretty general and we can write about almost anything, or is it more specific?

The essay is really general, basically just what sets you apart from other applicants

i was having the recommendations done by the respective leaders, and it seems that we have to confirm all or most of these recommendations with the Institute before sending them off to CES (the stake president in my area told me this). Since I've never been to institute, I thought that was kinda strange. I'm a high school student so i've only done seminary. I don't know if this is done only in Korea or it's supposed to be like that everywhere else.. anyone have a clue? how are you guys getting it done?

I put mine in the day after thanksgiving. And two weeks later I got a response. I was a lot faster than I expected. But i've also got excellent recommendations from my stake and bishop, and I'm valedictorian with a 32 ACT so I wasn't exactly a borderline candidate. I think that might have had something to do with the speed but maybe not. I have a friend with scores close to mine and similar reccs but she hasn't gotten a response. And another friend turned all her stuff in right away and she knew in mid november.

I applied to BYU, although I am still awaiting my early application to the Wharton School of Business in UPenn. Obviously, I hope that I get into Wharton, but I also wish to attend BYU.

I would just like to say that if you have not received a response within three weeks of completing your application, I would go online and MAKE SURE that BYU has received ALL of your application materials. I work in the admissions office and we often have students who think they have all of their stuff turned in, but really the bishop or their counselor or their seminary teacher forgot to send in their part or it got lost in the mail. Make sure your status page shows a received date for all parts of your application.
