I got my admissions decision yesterday, and I was thrilled to find I'm accepted!

It feels unreal! I got accepted to some other schools already, so my decision might be a bit difficult. Any advice would be welcome.

My other options: Fordham U (full scholarship), NYU, George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs (15,000 renewable scholarship).

I'm pretty torn, but right now Brown is looking really appealing. I want to visit soon, but I'm trying to do some research right now before I go.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I got into Brown too! I had the scariest time viewing my decision online...first, I didn't have my login info, then the help line was busy, THEN I had to wait an hour while my info was emailed, and even after logging in, the site was confusing to navigate!

Have you gotten your package in the mail yet? I love how the congratulations letter was personalized. ;D They appear to like me, and I LOVE them already.

Congratulations!! I forgot to activate my account...so while I was activating it, I read my rejections from Penn and Yale, and almost lost all hope.
I loved the personalized letter too - I always check to see if its a real signature or a stamp! And the certificate was snazzy. P
I still have to decide between Brown and Tufts, but I haven't gotten Tufts' aid yet. But I'm really leaning towards Brown...I love it.

ya, i remember visiting brown last summer and feeling really good on the campus...people were awesome, the open curriculum is great...it was very cool...anyways im tryin to decide between brown, duke, and northwestern hpme (mainliy brown and northwestern)

if it was just a case of undergrad, it would be brown almost definitely, but hpme means i got into the med school at northwestern so its ridiculously hard to turn down

any advice?...perhaps anybody knows stats about brown undergrads going on to top med schools? any other things that would be helpful in deciding? i heard there was a bad pre-med advisor at brown, anybody know anything about that?

kevster, i think that brown really had a lot to do with interest in, specifically, brown and a personality/outlook on life that fits with their atmosphere (more so than other ivys or top schools)...i say this because i know a few people who had equally strong stats and more impressive ecs than me who didnt get in

they have essays that give a great chance to talk about brown and you; i would strongly recommend visiting some time if at all possible, u'll see if its a good fit for you and u'll gain a lot of material for the essays and interview

There was a bad pre-med advisor, but he's been gone for a while. The current dean is ok, but I've only met with him personally once. As a Brown pre-med, I'd recommend you go to Northwestern. I love Brown, but being pre-med is a lot harder than you'd think it is. I didn't apply to any combined med programs b/c I figured that I'd just do really in college and go on to an amazing med school instead of settling for a guaranteed spot at a good med school. Big mistake. Doing well in high school is much easier than doing well in college. Right now, I regret not applying to combined programs, esp. HPME, b/c Feinberg is a great school and I would not have minded staying in Chicago for 8 (7?) years.

However, the Brown curriculum is amazing for self-exploration and growth. Coming into Brown, I didn't really know for sure that I wanted to be a doctor and I've swayed on it since coming here, but certain classes I've taken at Brown have cemented my desire to be a doctor. I could have just as easily discovered some other interest though and realized that medicine is not for me at all. If that happens to you, and you're in HPME, you're kind of in a tough spot.

So basically, how sure are you that you want to be a doctor? If you're positive, go to Northwestern, if you're not, go to Brown.
