How Proust Can Change Your Life

Hey I was wondering if every year that has gone to Brown has had to read this book. If not, could anyone give me a list of all the other books incoming freshmen had to read?

It's pretty rad that they're starting everyone off on the same footing, and then letting everyone go off into whatever classes they've signed up for.

With that being said, what's everyone's impressions of the book?

Oh, and how long were the letters you wrote to your advisor?

Orientation has gone a few changes for this year, so this is the first year with required reading. My year (two years ago) we had a book recommended to us (Philadelphia Fire).

I thought this book was not-so-good. If I want philosophy, I'd either watch Lord of the Rings and pretend it's meaningful or sit down to Nietzsche. Mr. Hypochondriac Proust has never interested me much.
