Chance a quasi-legacy!

Okay...so my dad is a PHYSICS professor there. Apparently, that makes by chances for admittance better than that of a normal-legacy (i.e. mother attended brown), but not as good as, say, being an under represented minority.

Intended Major(s):Classics, Film/Cinema studies, English (I have no interest in the maths or sciences, ironically).

GPA: 3.9 W, school doesn't send UW. They send my transcript, and if Brown did calculate the UW, it would be a 3.1-3.2. I know, it sucks.

SAT: 800CR 680M 750W (2 tries...is that not as good?)

EC: Currently strong, but probably nothing extroardinary. I might find an internship with a professor at brown, or shoot my own documentary.

Essays and Recommendations: good, but everyone thinks so

Ethnicity: Asian (Will this hurt me? I am applying for some non-stereotypical majors.)

Early descision

AP: APUSH this year, hopefully a 5. Lit, Lang, Macro, Micro, Biology next year.
My school doesn't offer that many AP's.

Yeah, I know, I wouldn't make the cut without the legacy.

Honestly, it all depends on how important your father is at Brown. If he is a tenured professor who has a high ranking position like say, the Dean of the Physics Dept or something then yeah, I would say your chances are favorable (Universities want to keep their faculty happy). However if he is just a normal professor your chances decrease dramatically.

Your stats are good, but maybe not good enough for Brown. I would say your quasi-legacy coupled with absolutely KICK ASS essays will definitely improve your chances though. You have a good shot.

Best of luck!
