I love Brown! <3 Chances for some scattered ecs?

Hey everyone! I absolutely adore Brown. Unfortunately, I am not sure that I'm good enough. If I could have some input that would be fantastic! Don't be afraid to be honest, I need all the help I can get . I'll chance back if you want, just leave a link!

The fun stuff:
SATI: 800 math, 800 writing, 790 reading
SATIIs: 760 chemistry, 760 mathI, 770 world history, 780 us history, mathII tba
GPA: I don't really get all this weighted unweighted business, but my school does this lovely 6 point scale, on which I have a 5.7.
Class rank: We don't rank, but top 3%.
APs: So far I've only taken 1, and I'm a junior / rising senior. Unfortunate, I'm aware, but I assure you that I'm taking the most rigorous schedule possible. Next year I'm taking 6 APs. I haven't gotten my one score back yet.
Awards: League tennis all-star all years, league sportsmanship award, MVP of my team all years. Bausch and Lomb honorary science award, for what it's worth. Published photography in magazine. American fine arts festival laureate- played piano at Carnegie.

Maybe you're starting to see what I mean by scattered...

ECs
Piano (I have a CD, but who's going to listen to another Asian girl? Hehe)
Viola- first chair in school orchestra
Tennis- I play tournaments and train quite a bit, but certainly will not be noticed by the division 1 Brown university.
Interfaith youth leadership.
Math team. Lol.
NHS and FLNHS
Research at MGH lab. It's a good time.
I feel very cookie cutter Asian right now.

Volunteering
Children's museum volunteer
Tutor at Chinese school
Volunteer in pediatrics at local hospital

Leadership
Tennis captain as junior and senior.
Committee member of an interfaith project.
That's it. Oh dear.

This summer, I'm off to Nepal to volunteer in a hospital there. Then I'm going straight to summer@brown (can't wait!)

And that's all I have to say.
Thanks so much!

Haha I love Brown too! Your SAT and GPA look spectacular. contine to volunteer at hospitals because selective colleges like to see that you are commited to something. Hope you get in!

Your academics are great.. Your SAT and amazing GPA..
i think class rigor would be a problem as Brown takes them seriously.. but great GPA and SAT will probably make up for that.
ECs are okay... but I think one great EC will improve your chance more..

In terms of academics, you have a decent shot.

I'm pretty sure that you are a high match at brown. Although nobody can really have Brown as a safety, I would be surprised if you didn't get in. Your EC's may be a little scattered, but everything else is fantastic, and honestly, the value of EC's gets played up on CC because we cant judge the essays and recs which are the other components of the subjective part of the application. The only thing that I could think of that would have you not get accepted is if your essay was very plain and didn't make you stand out as an individual. So work on that essay and you are good!

EDIT: I just reread it and kind of wanted to make an alteration. I actually would need to know more about your grades and if you were taking the hardest course loads possible. If you are getting almost entirely A's, or all A's and you are taking the highest workload possible, then I stand firm in my belief you will get accepted =]. congrats on the hard work and good luck, a 2390 is AMAZING

Keedokey, thanks for your input guys! And I am taking the hardest course load possible at my school (honors and my one ap this year). I've never taken a standard class. The thing is, I was a not smart little freshman me and I went and got two Bs. Since then, I have gotten straight As. I don't think those Bs will kill me, bu they definitely aren't helping with the gpa. Oh well, it happens. Thanks again!

Anthropology sounds like an interesting topic. Check to see what the course requirements are for Medical School.

Your grades/scores/rigor are fantastic in context, and your ECs seem great as well. However, as with many top schools, Brown isn't all about numbers or awards. So while you do have a great shot (you are well qualified), no one can really tell you if you're going to get in. Work hard on your essays! I've always had this feeling that Brown judges character immensely in its applicants. Make sure your personal statements reflect you, intensely you, so write about something that is dear to your heart. Good luck!

Class rigor is taken in the context of the school. Were you taking all the APs possibly could junior year or not? If your school didn't offer more than that one, than it's okay. Otherwise it would hurt you. Your academics are pretty strong and your ECs are ok. Leadership is lacking a bit, but you do have some accomplishments to make up for it. Taking all this together, it would still be a low mid/reach, which is good considering its Brown. Just shine your personality through the essay. Btw, you can concentrate on anything you want as long as you finish required courses. Good luck.

Actually, how competitive is your school (what percent go to ivies). I know at my school top 3% probably wouldn't even get in ivies, so it depends on the competitiveness of the school a bit.

Thanks for chancing me.

Your SAT scores are awesome possums, pretty much a max score. I trust that you take an incredibly difficult curriculum. Your SAT subject tests are also quite strong. The lack of your APs aren't really a bad thing because SAT subject tests are just as impressive as APs. Your senior curriculum is obviously strong. Your ecs are pretty good, try for some head leadership position on one of them. But overall, I say you have a fantastic shot at Brown.

Good Luck Fellow Asian

Based on the stats I've seen of my class, I'd say you've got it in the bag siztah. Just be sure to write your essay about something non-asiany so you give yourself more dimensions as an applicant.

Thanks everyone! This actually has been really helpful! @dblazer- my school is a medium-size public in MA, we send 7 or 8 out of 200 to ivys every year. This year, we have 4 people going to brown!
And roflmaospencer, thanks for your input! I will try super hard to be different than those other thousand million bajillion azns applying
