| After reading this...I'm quite pleased because it seems like Brown doesn't put THAT much emphasis on SAT/ACT scores...which is good because the rest of my application I'm pretty confident with. I guess I'll find out soon if I am right...GL to everyone applying! |

| Decision: Accepted Early Decision (I also just found this site)
SAT: 2360 (800 Verbal, 790 Math, 770 Writing)
SAT IIs: 740 Math IIC (retaken from 680), 800 Lit, 730 American History, 600 Physics (ouch!)
ACT: 35 composite, I don't remember my individual scores
GPA: 4.7 weighted
Rank: 3/278 (now 5/278)
APs: 5 on both English exams (Language and Literature), 4 on US History
Essays: Personal and, if I may say so, pretty good. It definitely showcased a "love of learning," which I suppose is a good thing.
Teacher Recs: One ecstatically exellent, one probably very good
Counselor Rec: Basically good, although she knows me barely at all.
Hook: I don't know...I read a lot and take my education very seriously.
Location/Personal:
State/Country: Berea, OH
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Caucasian, completely uninteresting
Gender: Female
Other Factors: My family and community is pretty blue-collar, so I didn't get the opportunity to do anything huge outside of school (expensive summer programs, travel, et cetera.) I would almost certainly have a higher rank if my school's GPA-weighting system wasn't so screwed up. I chose to take classes that really affected and inspired me rather than taking lots of study halls to keep my GPA up, and since these classes weren't offered on an "honors" level, they brought my GPA down. I got the chance to rant about this for a while at my interview.
Comments: I love Providence. I love Brown. What can I say? |
