| DEFERRED
Stats:
SAT: 680V 680M 710W (probably what did it?)
SAT IIs: 700 BioM, 710 Lit, 760 US History
GPA: 4.6 W and 3.97 unW
Rank: school doesn't rank, but def. in the top 10 out of over 400
Other stats: 5's on four exams and 4 on physics and english
Subjective:
Essays: original, but unedited, not refined
Teacher Recs: the coolest teachers ever who love me to death
Counselor Rec: my prinicipal wanted to write it...really good
Hook (if any): sec. gen. of MUN, drum and bugle corps, diplomat stuff
Location/Person:
State or Country: SoCal
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: East Indian
Gender: male
Other Factors: an amazing person in all possible ways
General Comments: I know why i didn't get in (yet, hopefully). My sat scores weren't good at all and my essay wasn't refined and I turned in my app 3 minutes past the time I thought it was due. I realized that it was actually a day early. So i panicked, and nothing got read before submission, freaking out-ness etc. OK, that was really confusing, sorry. |

- SAT IIs: 670 Math IC; 710 US History; 720 Literature; 720 Chemistry
- GPA: ~104 weighted
- Rank: possibly Top 5/560; definitely Top 10
- Other stats: AP US History 5; AP Chem 5; ACT composite 30
Subjective:- Essays: I thought they were pretty good; I feel they offered a personal insight into my personality, hobbies, desire to be a doctor, etc.
- Teacher Recs: Very good
- Counselor Rec: Very good
- Hook (if any): Second-generation Indian American; cousin went to Brown (legacy?); visited and got to know a current PLME student; had an informal interview and recommendation letter with a Brown professor
Location/Person:- State or Country: Long Island, NY
- School Type: Big parochial/Catholic high school
- Ethnicity: Indian-American
- Gender: Female
Other Factors: Executive Board Member of Caring Adolescents Reaching the Elderly organization; Layout Editor and Assistant Editor-in-Chief of school yearbook; nominated to be a member of school Kolbe Retreat Leadership Team and a Eucharistic Minister; Math Tutor (2x per week); lots of research; NYLF & NSLC on Medicine; Altar Serving for 10+ years; Flute player; Jiu jutsu for 8+ years; Hospital volunteering; Inducted into Quill & Scroll Honor Society for Journalism; Ranked 1 out of about 650 for 2003-2004 academic year General Comments: Brown has been my dream school for a while...and I had a pretty good interview too, so I'm hoping I have a chance! Also, I've heard it's recommended that deferred students send letters to Brown saying that it's still their first choice. Does that sound desperate, or should I contact them? Thanks! |

| Definitely send a note.
Also, if you have any new information over the next couple of months I'd send that a note on that too. |

your ECs are incredible. I seriously don't know why you did not get in, unless SATs are worth 70% (and i'd really hate to think that). Love your attitude, keep trying! =) |

| Aw, thanks lillynch! *blush* I wouldn't say godly by any means, but I know I tried my best.
Incidentally, I ultimately wasn't accepted to Brown or PLME; I'm going to the Siena/Albany Med program instead. I'm so excited!
Thanks to everyone on CC who helped me through the nightmarish application process. |
