I feel your pain, aderoberts; I had very similar stats, and I was, too, denied admission.

It'll all work out in the end, though; I just know it will, so don't be bummed out, and good luck with the rest of your college admissions!

SAT or ACT

does it really hurt your chances to use the ACT rather than the SAT? my SAT scores were 680 V / 670 M / 700 W, but I got a 33 on my ACT. I didn't even send in my SAT scores.

Decision: Accepted to the College, Deferred to the PLME

Stats:
  • SAT: 2270 (710 C/R, 780 Math, 780 Writing)
  • SAT IIs: 790 IIC, 770 Chem, 700 US History
  • GPA: 3.70 UW
  • Rank: My school doesn't rank
  • APs: 5 Chem, 4 English Language and Composition, 4 US History
Subjective:
  • Essays: Great
  • Teacher Recs: 2 recs were awesome, but the one for the PLME not that great
  • Counselor Rec: Hella Good
  • Hook (if any): High verbal score despite the fact that I have been educated in English for only 3 years? A lot of experience at an acupuncture clinic and hospitals? The first one from my school to do ED?
Location/Person:
  • State or Country: Currently in Seoul, Korea
  • School Type: Private
  • Ethnicity: Korean
  • Gender: Male
Other Factors: I think my interviewer wrote an excellent recommendation for me. The interviewer graduated from my high school, and I have known him for about six months.
General Comments:
I am so damn happy.

No. You just need to submit one SAT II score for science. If physics and bio are required, I would have been denied.
