| I got REJECTED. (i think)
For the deferred letters, they state that "You are deferred" right? cuz.... being the dumb person that I am, i don't know for sure if i was deferred or just plain out rejected. lol =/ | |

| if you got deferred they will say that the descision has been postponed and in no way does it mean you have been rejected but you're still being considered and that you should continue and apply to other schools. earlier on this thread i posted what a deferral letter looks like.
p.s. how could you not know, didn't you receive a letter?it should be relatiuvely clear and easy to understand... unless you're in denial..... | |

| I was with my friend when he first saw his Yale rejection letter. He really thought it was a deferral.
It was tough trying to explain to him what the letter really meant, but the language couldn't have been clearer. | |

*REJECTION LETTER*
The Board of Admission has completed its evaluation of nearly 2,500 Early Decision applications, and it is with great regret that I inform you that the Board has voted to deny your application for admission to Brown.
The Early Decision Program was created to give applicants as clear as admission decision as possible early in their senior year, and in time to submit other applications. The fact that you application was denied is not a negative reflection of your talents and accomplishments, but is unfortunately indicative of the reality of the intense competition for admission to the Class of 2010. While each year, only 1,450 students enter Brown, we anticipate that over 17,000 highly-qualified students will apply this year. The very real and very sad truth is we find ourselves in the difficult position of being unable to admit a great many of the students we would like to have here.
The members of the Board are very aware of the disappointment this letter may bring you and want you to know that they had made every effort to make the same decision on your application in December that they would have made in April. Our early Decision deliberations reflect our awareness of the competition for places in an entering class and our obligation under Early Decision to help students in their transition to college by advising them early—even when the decision may cause unhappiness.
We know that you will have a successful college career and we wish you the best as you pursue your college plans. On behalf of the Board of Admission I want to thank you for taking the time to prepare your application and for your interest in Brown. | |

| Hey, it's better than some schools which I've heard have done something along the lines of:
"Thanks, but no thanks."
From what I've seen, it seems like Brown has a pretty nice rejection/deferral letter as compared to some other schools. | |
