Is it possible that transfers will be notified of acceptance before May 15?

^I think that date is firm. What I want to know is if Brown gives likely letters?

I do not expect or think Brown would send out likely letters to transfer applicants. However, as evidenced from numerous regular decision applicants, Brown does send out likely letters to select individuals.

I don't know about you guys, this wait is absolutely killing me. I'm trying to conceive of every possible way to preserve my happiness at my current institution, but that's hard as ****. The days between today and May 15th are going to be the longest in the history of my life.

^almost every college seems to have a list of "things to do before you graduate" of often quirky or unique things to that school. Find that list, or create one if it doesn't exist, and then set off to start checking off a bunch of them (at least the ones that aren't too dangerous etc.) If you do transfer, then you will have enhanced the next few months. I live in a resort area, and have to see it with tourists occasionally to appreciate the things around me. If you stay, then you will maybe be a bit happier with your environs.

Hey Norcaltransfer,

I also applied for transfer through the RUE, though we won't likely hear back until around late April or early May unless we get a phone interview with Brown. They're currently trying to process the bulk of the freshmen applications, and it takes a lot of time.

Let's keep in touch though! And I hope we both get in to through the RUE!

Portmaneau5: I totally get it. Seven weeks is going to literally feel like forever, I don't know how I'm going to stand being here that long. To add onto Brownalumparent's idea, I just started blogging about my experiences here. Somehow, it helps make it suck a little bit less.

Brownalumparent: That's actually not a bad idea

Anthro4387: I think if you are accepted to another college, and they require a yes/no before May 15th, Brown will give you a decision ahead of time (if you give them two weeks notice), but I'm not positive about this, and I can't imagine any college wanting to know before May 15th.

Frontium: They finally awknowledged receiving all my material. I know I shouldn't have been worrying, because it always takes a while, but it was really hard not to.

Hi Guys,

I am also apply to Brown as a transfer for Fall 2012 admission. I really don't know what to expect, probably because I was rejected by Ivy's as freshman, I find it hard to conquer the fear of reapplying. I actually got the Brown portal status thing set up in early February, and all the materials required are received by Brown. They even have the Decision tab on the status website, even though it says admission is currently not available.
This is my first time using college confidential, and I would like to see if you guys think I have a chance of getting admitted. I also applied to Boston college and Cornell University.

Currently a second year in one of the UC's;

College GPA: 3.756 (senior status)
Business Economics major
Midterm report: all A's
EC: Internship at Merrill lynch(under Vice President of Financial Adviser), Dean of Students Administrative Internship, Academic Internship (teaching at a high school), Student Government (Legislative Rep. & Executive Commission), PKP Ambassador (University of Cambridge, U.K. International Program), Study abroad fair coordinator, used to work at State Farm Insurance as marketing assistant, Zipcar Brand Ambassador, Student Council Representative (housing), work at housing community, Sacramento Internship, involved in two clubs, Golden Key International Honor Society. (I think that's about it.. I'll update if I have more)
Dean's Honors List (all quarters)

Recommendations: 3 total: 2 from my college professors, I think they all like me very much, and another one from a professor at University of Cambridge, U.K. (Judge School of Business), I took his class when I was studying abroad in Cambridge last summer, and he told me that he had a really good impression and wrote positive comments.

I don't think I had an impressive high school record though;

High School GPA: 3.725 unweighted
SAT: 2040 (I did pretty bad on critical reading because I came to the U.S. when I was a freshman in high school, I barely spoke any English, given myself only been learning for English for almost 3 years at the time, I kinda accepted my performance)
EC: President of French Club; Board member for 2 other clubs; ASB student forum; community service; and one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life: volunteered abroad in Kenya, Africa during the summer of my junior year :]

Please feel free to comment, and I would love to keep in touch with you guys

Best of Luck, everyone!

haha I take if you go to UCLA, if your CC sn is CoffeeLA! I think you have a good chance at all those schools. Does Brown require a Midterm report though? I don't think they do?

I was informed that yes, a Mid-Term Report is required. You can either mail or fax it.

I was informed that YOU DO NOT need a mid-term report? Where did you hear that you needed one? Brown has no official form? Now I'm freaking out lol

Also, what does it say for "received" for application fees, transfer supplement, common app, etc? Mine says March 2nd, but I sent my supplements in March 1st? That's so weird....

Dear (My Name),

Regarding the mid-term report, yes it is a necessary component for transfer applicants. As it states, after completing all the relevant questions, please give the form to instructors whose courses you are enrolled in at the time you file your application and ask them to provide a general indication of your performance, including your current grade and (if they wish) additional comments, and to sign and date the form. They should also provide the course title, number and credits.

If you have any more questions, please email me at the above email account.

Sincerely,

Madeline M. Norton
Administrative Assistant

To Whom it May Concern,

I am a prospective Fall 2012 transfer applicant, and while perusing the new Transfer Applicant page on the Brown University website, I noticed that it states for the CommonApp downloaded forms to be completed, including a mid-term report. Is the Mid-Term Report a necessary component this year for transfer applications?

Thanks,

(MY NAME)
