optional supplements

Out of curiousity, how much of an impact do you think art and music supplements have in admissions? And how many students submit them?

No, it can't hurt your application. (I suppose, unless the recording was very clearly plagiarized or something.)

They are sent to faculty who rate them. If you get a low rating, then your art and music talent will not play a role in the decision-making process. If you get the highest rating, then it can help you a lot, although I doubt that can override low grades, scores and poor references.

"Good" photographs is pretty vague. My guess is it probably won't help much.

Have you taken a class in photography? Have these photographs won awards or been shown in a gallery? Has a professional told you you have talent? If so, they're worth sending in. Otherwise, probably not.

Are the arts supplement deadlines extended to Nov 7 as well?

I would assume so, but make sure you mail it in a few days before.
