Brown's Rival?

Which school is Brown's rival?

Harvard vs. Yale is obvious
Princeton vs. Penn seem to be traditional rivals...

Which leaves Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia...

Cornell I guess. But we don't really have to match every one of the eight ivy league schools into a pair, do we?

Yes, but which school do Brown folks identify as their traditional, main rival - if they had to choose one?

We don't. Because most Brown students don't care about sports. My guess would be Dartmouth as we are most similar to them in size/intention, etc. But we don't really think like that here at Brown, we think more like, "Wow, this place is great and unique and we love what makes Brown, Brown," and don't really take into account other places. Most Brown students even when asked to compare (moving outside of sports) will tell you great things about other top schools, and then come back to, but what we have is what we have and if that's what you're looking for than nowhere else is worth going to.

I think if you go by sports and listen to the Brown Band at all, it would be either Harvard or Princeton.

most video games have Columbia as our rival probably because of the core curriculum vs. new curriculum thing, they're about as opposite as you can get.

I'm pretty sure that Princeton/Harvard have a bigger football rivalry than Princeton/Penn... I know Princeton alum who head back to Jersey to see those games.

Our traditional sports rival is Columbia although most sports team gear up for Harvard the most of any other Ivy League team.

hmm. i don't think there are rivals per se, but there are plenty of peer schools, but that's a whole different story.
