work experience!

I've worked for my parents although I wasn't paid for it. I had to work after school and during the summer because my parents were out of the country for personal matters. Would that still count as work experience?

mjl21590 -
I think that would still count as work experience. You should explain the situation somewhere in the app, or have your counselor mention it in his/her rec.

Summer volunteering would count as an extracurricular, not work experience. It depends what kind of volunteering it was though..

Does anyone know if a minimally paid (i.e. the occasional gift certificate) internship (at a local newspaper) counts as work experience?

thank you orchidthief! i put my internship as work experience even though i wasn't paid for it at all. I think i read somewhere that an internship offers the same experiences as a job so it should be considered as one.
