yeah, i'm an international applying ED to Brown. I'm going through the same inferiority complex now that I've sent my application... Life would just be so easy if i get accepted. If i get rejected/deferred I will have to spend every waking (and probably sleeping) moment of my Winter Break doing RD applications. Blah. I know i should start them now, but I just don't have the heart. The college anxiety section of my brain is focusing on December 15th... It seems like that day will never come. I can't imagine actually looking online and seeing the decision. Lol my heart just started racing...

See, all of the guidance couselors at my school make all of the ED kids submit at least their other favorite schools right after they send in their application for early decision. I have been so hooked on this school, that I had to work on other apps to get my mind off of it. I am expecting a heartbreak, so to prevent having an emotional breakdown, I am looking at the positives in other schools. I am no where near the top of my class and don't have the strongest credentials, so looking at other schools probably makes the most sense for me.....but I am still hoping

I think I'm waiting on the letter. Something in me just wants to do it the old fashioned way... Probably because I remember how exciting it was to come home in the second grade to find my brother pouring over his Duke acceptance letter with glee.

Although once I come on here and start seeing responses, it's going to be really hard to hold out...

We all get our responses at the same time....?

Counselors are just being careful because they don't want a red flag sent up at the other universities and have them assume that the student only applied to the school because they were deferred/rejected ED. I don't see how they would think that as long as the apps are in on time.

I sort of just want this all to be over with. Have an interview on Tuesday at the local library and submitted my stuff into Intel. Anyone know what the chances are for acceptance of an ED person who has been deferred if they retake the SAT's and do really well and idk, have a good mid year report..etc? I really don't think I am getting an acceptance letter, but I am really stubborn and will fight for acceptance after a deferral.

I just want the application process to be over with. One application stressed me out enough, I can't imagine what seven or eight is going to be like. Senior fall is driving me crazy.

stefanieguo, you should call Brown admissions about your interview, or if there is a regional alumni group coordinating interviews, call them. You shouldn't let it just hang. I am sure admissions will help you if you tell them waht happened - you don't want to be tagged a no-show if there was a mistake somewhere.

Crzy, you are overdoing it. You really should have narrowed that list down to at least half of that.

As for deferral acceptances, it depends on how they first perceived your app and what stopped them from giving you the early acceptance.

Yea, I realize that...parents are making me apply to about 6-7 of them, they figure i have a chance at them. The others are target or safe schools that I added before I retook my SAT's in Oct and after that I am still retaking in Dec, so yea, my SAT scores have triggered this paranoia

For the deferral, they would just reject you if you couldn't possibly improve the thing that they didn't like about you, like your rank right? I mean, that's what I figure.

btw, thanks for the response daveb =)

Deferral isn't necessarily because you need improvement somewhere. It could always be a spacing issue. But if they don't see you as someone who is right for Brown, they reject you.

Yeah, same. I realized I didn't have the amazing two-page extra-curriculars I could have had.

But whatever happens happens.

I hope that we all get in ED, but what are all of your second choice schools?

I have a pretty big list of other schools I'm applying to, and it took my awhile to decide on what my "second choice" would be, because after I found Brown everything else kind of went into the background. It's a big jump between 1 and 2 in terms of preference, but I'd say Duke is my second.

omggg, I'm so scared! I've worked soooo hard for this one decision. T_T Why does the world have to be so competitive? Does anyone know if the decisions come out on exactly Dec. 15 or around mid-Dec?
I have some other schools that I need to apply to, but I'm so mentally worn out and emotionally drained to do anything. I want this so bad *sob* I'm sure everyone else is the same way, but I'm so scared that I'm going to get rejected or deferred. omg, sobbbbbb

Brown's site says admissions will be available mid-December, so for online it's gotta be anywhere between the 15th and the following week, with letters arriving around that time as well (though those could take longer depending on how long it takes the mail).
