No work experience?

I haven't had any work without pay... just volunteering... Do I have to put something down in the work experience section then, or should I leave it blank?

If you don't have anything that applies, just leave it blank. Lying on an application is a terrible idea. But it would be a good idea to write in your activities piece about how you chose to volunteer instead of work for money.

Would I put working (for no money) at my parent's own business or summer school under work experience?

what is the difference between volunteer work and internship and working without getting paid? What if i volunteered to do an internship and did not get paid? What would this be? I dont understand this stuff.

internship without pay would be work experience. volunteering at a soup kitchen or something like that would not be work experience unless you had a job/position.

Thanks, Newjack88
So voluteering to work at a hopstial for a month and working at an embassy as a secretary for 2 weeks certainly belong to work experience, right?

ehhh idk about that. i think volunteering at a hospital is just community service. the other one does not really sound like you had a specific job/internship. to play it safe i would mention that in the activities document. or if you are really afraid of leaving the working experience part blank, which i don't think will be a big deal, mention it only in that section and not again in the activities part so you are not redundant.

I put two internship thingies as work experience, and a community service project that I started myself. I am trying not to worry about whether or not I was paid... I worked my hiney off, so I'd say that's work experience.
