i know this is late but a poster in early jan said it was too late to take sat's and it wasn't. brown and several other schools will look at jan scores. you sound like you would add a lot to any college community

But that GPA and the SAT scores...they're a bit on the low side, to be honest

My Interview: What do y'all think?

I just returned home from my Brown interview and it went really well!! It was perfect. It's disappointing to know that they don't really actually count for much :/ There were 4 questions that she had to answer about the applicant and she typed them during our session. She said she was so excited about me!! and the dual degree program etc! She said that the recommendation she wrote was so outstanding that it just might get me in. It said stuff like of all the students I've interviewed, _____ is an extraordinary candidate/She will add so much to the brown community as well as the providence community/I could not recommend her more. She said if she had a big say in the admissions, she'd call them and say "you have got to accept this kid." She said she has never met anyone like me nor is this enthusiastic about many people and hopes more than anything that I am accepted.

..sorry I kind of went on a rant I'm just so excited about it!! But, she didn't see my transcript. Although, she did ask how my SATs were and I said unfortunatly they are no where near the usual 780's and 790's applying. and then she asked if they were in the 600's and I said yes.. even though I know my 560 is NOT in the 600's. I was really worried about that. And then she said that Brown knows a persons success at college is not from one number.. especially at Brown with the open-curriculum and all. And that Brown knows that already most of the poeple applying CAN attend the school and can succeed, however Brown is unique in that they are specifically looking for that applicant with the certain "flair" and extraordinary uniqueness. she said i have just that!

The past few weeks I've been super worried about being accepted at my top choice schools, esp. Brown cause it's perfect for me, but this afternoon took a little stress of my shoulders and reminded me that there still is hope somewhere out there hopefully.. still worried though.. for obvious reasons :/

What do y'all think?

So you survived cancer at 12, founded a nonprofit organization at 10, presented an abstract at an international psychiatry conference (for professionals), founded a fashion company, and shot the pilot for a television show pitched in LA before 18?

I'm sorry. But as a fellow teenager, I just...don't believe you. The list is impressive, yes, but so over-the-top that it's impossible not to be extremely suspicious and, to be honest, more than a little doubtful...I've seen plenty of crazy chance threads, but aside from the GPA/scores, this one seems to top them all...

if only colleges cared MORE about ECs than they do about Grades, you're similar to me in that sense, so good luck to us!

oh Thanks FdIvySibling! and, yes, good luck to us is right!

I'm actually posting because I just recently wrote a letter to convey my passion for attending Brown. I've sent it to the admissions office, who said that they will put it in my file. I also visited Brown again, including the admissions office, just for a quick hello so the person handling my app for the dual degree program could see the face behind the application. I seriously think im doing everything i possibly can. Would someone like me to pm them the letter I wrote and let me know how much they think it will really matter during review of my app? thanks!

if you love fashion so much why don't you apply to any fashion design/art schools? Since you live in new york why don't you apply to FIT?
