go with Duke, the academics and prestige of all the other schools, but with a much better social life. Really though you cant go wrong with any choice

cornell is not a happy place

I have a similar choice... only add Dartmouth, and no Cornell/Duke. I don't know what to do either. Are you going to visit?

its an easy choice:

Depends if you care about sports. If you like sports (watching, doing) choose Duke. If you don't give a damn about sports... Brown's your place!
The two places are very different.

Would you say people at Brown are unathletic? I'm not into watching sports at all, but I'm definitely an active person.

Kristina, there are lots of people at Brown who are very athletic, work out, play intramural or club sports -- but it's not a big campus for watching sports. The stadium does not fill up for football games (it used to, but not anymore). There are some nice fitness facilities located in dorms around campus, for example.

well consider financial aid?
i was also undecided between jhu and brown for neuroscience since the programs at both schools are just awesome, but brown's financial aid packet tipped the scales! (and the fact that it is farther from home hehe)

brown is generally the more desirable school, but ultimately it comes down to your own preferences. those who choose duke over brown tend to do so for either regional reasons (they are from the south) or financial reasons (ivy league schools don't offer merit scholarships)

that being said,

the overwhelming majority of those chosing between brown and duke, choose brown.

brown also ranks higher as a "dream school" for high school students,

brown also ranks higher in surveys of student happiness
