| I didn't receive anything in the mail, so I'm wondering whether that's a good or a bad sign... |

| I got a letter stating that "the high number of commitments from accepted students means that we will not be able to offer you a place in the class of 2012 at Brown." I'm not sure if this is a polite rejection or that they aren't taking more people off the waitlist.
Regardless, I am beyond happy about where I am going...Stanford '012! |

| That letter sounds as though they've closed the waitlist. So why haven't they reviewed all the files? |

| It works like this. After initial review of all waitlist files, admissions boxes all waitlist applicants into four categories:
1. Accepted (those who already received acceptance letters).
2. Encouraged to remain on the waitlist (some folks did receive "letters of intent" stating that, although their decision has not yet been made, admission staff believes they have high chances and are encouraged to hang on).
3. No action taken (the broadest category of people - no positive decision and no communication until about June 15).
4. Rejected (those who already received and/or will receive soon rejection letters).
I have heard that up to 80% of people in category 2 eventually get in (historically/statistically). Only very few people (about 1%) from category 3 get admitted. |

| How do you know this?
Doesn't what you're saying kinda contradict earlier posts saying that if you haven't recieved something yet, then your file hasn't been reviewed? |

Yes, it does. I think that assertion is baseless. |

| it's hard to search for this type of thing, but I want to know if the prediction I made back in post 94 was right:
well my year they announced may 9th and had decisions out the 16th. I'd imagine it would only take a week this year to. I would guess (with absolutely no reason to believe I'm right) that they will know a week from today if they are taking people (i.e. the 19th) and that by the 26th you will have decisions. |

| For those accepted off waitlist, when was the deadline for your reply? Any round two would be after that date. |
